Best Time for a Milonga

October 13, 2016 / tangoclay / Musings

best-time-for-milongaTo help tango organizers pick the best day and time for a milonga, I’ve created a survey to get your input. To fill it out, click on the Start Survey button at the bottom and select as many day and time spots as you want. Remember, these are the time slots you would like the actual music to start playing for general dancing–not the time a pre-milonga lesson would start. When finished, click on Finish Survey. (Note: only one survey response per computer will be accepted).

To see the results, click on Best Day & Time for a Milonga and use the password: Milonga. Hint, once you are viewing the results, for a better view click on the blue button “Detailed Report” at the bottom.

I like milongas starts around 6-7 pm!
I like to dance about 2 – 2.5 hours and go for a Happy Hours with friends afterwards , and still get a decent amount of sleep as I’m a working person!

I like Milongas and Practicas to start at 8, or earlier on Sundays like 5:30 or 6:00 start. This is not BA where people don’t even eat dinner until 9pm, and I really have no desire to, nor enjoy staying up late. Optimally, I have a snack early in the evening, go to the Milonga (at about 8), then go with friends for a little food and a glass of wine afterwards.

9- 9:30 starting times, especially during the week is just too late for me. I have to work and like to feel well rested.

On Friday, Saturday, or Sundays before a Monday holiday, 7PM is a the latest good start time.
For Sunday afternoon milongas, 4 PM is a good start time. Here (in Montgomery, Alabama) we have to travel 1-1/2 to 3 hours one way to attend a nice milonga. . . . we need travel time both to and from milongas, please. . . . thank you for asking!

I think that the ideal time is Friday or Saturday night at 9:30-10:00 to start, ending around 2

I like time for an nice dinner before the milonga starts, a little earlier on work nights.

We had a Sunday milonga here in Michigan for years. Though it may be on its last legs I have always loved them. It gives the crowd Friday And Sat to do the events that always seem to interfere with normal tango obsession and gives a great start to the week.
